Activity

These precious and vibrant ecosystems are teeming with life to observe and explore, and provide a wonderful natural space for respectful sensory play, self exploration and nature connection for everyone.
-
bare your feet to the earth and lean into the sensory awakening
-
observe and note how many different types of insects, birds, frogs and other wildlife you can see or hear - water bugs, dragonflies, butterflies, tadpoles... notice their unique movement and physical adaptations such as dragonfly wings, long legs on surface ater bugs etc. Use a magnifying glass to study small insects.
-
does the water feel different on your fingers than your toes?
-
what natural objects float and which ones sink?
-
does the water move faster in some areas and slower in others?
-
are there warm and cold pockets in different places?
-
create boats from leaves or small rafts from stick and race them down the creek
-
how many different types of rocks or pebbles can you find?
-
observe plant life along the creek - what makes them unique?
-
let your imagination and creativity run respectfully wild!

Reconnecting ourselves regularly with the natural world has profound health & wellbeing benefits for our whole body; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Respectful play

A loving reminder to enjoy our natural world with a deep sense of reverence/respect;
-
leave no trace (take rubbish away with you)
-
be mindful of plants and animals when leaving a trail to explore
-
leave chemicals/pollutants out of waterways and the environment
-
we share the environment with other living beings to whom it is home, both plant and animal. If collecting natural materials or treasures, do so from the ground and not removed from a living plant - mindful of animals that use the material as shelter
