Day 8 - a twilight wander & moonrise

Join us for 12 days of immersive and exploratory inspiration for reconnecting ourselves respectfully with the natural world and each other.

Experience the calming, rejuvenating and healing power of being in the present moment surrounded by nature, mindfully aware of yourselves and the world around you, synching back with your natural rhythms, cycles and flow!

Watching a sunset is a wonderful way to relax your nervous system, provide your mind with space to reflect and process your day, and prepare your body for restful sleep in the calming power of twilight.

Not only is this experience highly emotive and awe inspiring, at a biological level you are synching yourself with nature's rhythms, cycles and flow - realigning your circadian clocks and all body systems the their natural state (including attention restoration and mental clarity) providing health benefits for your whole being, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Activity
There's true magic and majesty to be found beneath the twilight sky! Grab your torches and binoculars after dinner and embrace the spectacular transition from day to night. Engage each of your senses as the colours crescendo to their glorious peak, bringing you into this present moment;

-
lean into the new sensations you experience in a place that you only know during daylight hours - note the differences in sounds, sights, fragrances and the cooler air of the evening - or explore somewhere new altogether for added delight!
-
notice the colours intensify then fade into the blue hues of twilight
-
who can find Venus first? The first planet visible at night, known as 'evening star'
-
look for movement of satellites and known constellations
-
listen for the sounds and movement of nocturnal creatures - can you see micro-bats flitting about the sky above you?
-
if you are at a beach, allow yourself to fall into the rhythmic flow of the waves - the mental and physical effects are as beneficial as meditation
-
enjoy the moonrise if the timing is right - perhaps dancing with your moon shadow if it's full! Explore the moon through binoculars.

Reconnecting ourselves regularly with the natural world has profound health & wellbeing benefits for our whole body; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Respectful play

A loving reminder to enjoy our natural world with a deep sense of reverence/respect;
-
leave no trace (take rubbish away with you)
-
be mindful of plants and animals when leaving a trail to explore
-
leave chemicals/pollutants out of waterways and the environment
-
we share the environment with other living beings to whom it is home, both plant and animal. If collecting natural materials or treasures, do so from the ground and not removed from a living plant - mindful of animals that use the material as shelter
