Day 4 - bare foot wanders & grounding

Join us for 12 days of immersive and exploratory inspiration for reconnecting ourselves respectfully with the natural world and each other.

Experience the calming, rejuvenating and healing power of being in the present moment surrounded by nature, mindfully aware of yourselves and the world around you, synching back with your natural rhythms, cycles and flow!

Free your feet from the confines of shoes! Our amazing feet are organically designed to be highly flexible and mobile to adapt to the terrain and move us through our natural environment. Go bare foot as often as you can on as many different surfaces, textures and terrains as possible. Start with soft textures and surfaces as you work up to coarser and sharper textures such as gravel and small sticks or dry grasses.

By baring our feet to the earth, we are able to directly absorb natural energies and electrons, this is known as grounding (or earthing) and it promotes a state of calm, reduces stress, supports healthy heart, brain and nervous system functions just which flows on to all body systems.

Activity
Try these immersive experiences and note how your whole body responds both physically and emotionally;

-
dip your feet into a running stream, feel the movement of the water flowing around and over your feet, the temperature of the water, texture of pebbles or sand beneath your feet. Note your change in breathing if it's cold!
-
slow down as you walk in nature, feel the different textures as experienced by your feet, feel into each part of your foot as it touches and leaves the ground with each step
-
bring your awareness to the way your toe knuckles and foot arches bend and flex over objects and uneven surfaces. How does this fee in your body? Do you notice sensations of delight, relief of pain or discomfort, or other sensations?
-
challenge yourself to see if you can pic up natural objects with your toes such as leaves, twigs or pebbles
-
find a smooth stone and press your feet into it at different points that feel good to you - DIY reflexology!

I invite you to video or photograph your experiences, perhaps write a sensory poem and share it respectful with our community.

Reconnecting ourselves regularly with the natural world has profound health & wellbeing benefits for our whole body; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

May you enjoy your family adventures and making cherished memories!
Respectful play

A loving reminder to enjoy our natural world with a deep sense of reverence/respect;
-
leave no trace (take rubbish away with you)
-
be mindful of plants and animals when leaving a trail to explore
-
leave chemicals/pollutants out of waterways and the environment
-
we share the environment with other living beings to whom it is home, both plant and animal. If collecting natural materials or treasures, do so from the ground and not removed from a living plant - mindful of animals that use the material as shelter
