Day 11 - scentscape treasure hunt

Join us for 12 days of immersive and exploratory inspiration for reconnecting ourselves respectfully with the natural world and each other.

Experience the calming, rejuvenating and healing power of being in the present moment surrounded by nature, mindfully aware of yourselves and the world around you, synching back with your natural rhythms, cycles and flow!

Activities;

Explore nature through its unique scentscapes (the fragrances within the environment around you detected by your olfactory senses - smell and stimulation of nerve fibers that connect directly with your brain which is the reason why some fragrances trigger heightened emotional responses and memories).

-
bring your primary awareness to your sense of smell (you may also taste some fragrances on the back of your tongue) and follow different smells in nature to their origin - do the smells remind you of something?
-
collect different leaves from the ground, particularly eucalyptus leaves - crush them between your fingers to heat up and release the essential oils then smell them. Can you taste it as you smell it? How many different smells can you find with different eucalyptus leaves alone? Try different types of plant leaves using the same method. Explore a fragrant herb garden using this method!
-
are there some flowers that don't have a fragrance?
-
do you notice some flowers have more pollinators than others?
-
lean into your sense of curiosity as you explore this fragrant world

Reconnecting ourselves regularly with the natural world has profound health & wellbeing benefits for our whole body; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

May you enjoy your family adventures and making cherished memories! Share your photos with us on Instagram #12daysofnaturefun and let's cultivate an inspiring collection of respectful nature experiences with our beautiful community!

Respectful play

A loving reminder to enjoy our natural world with a deep sense of reverence/respect;
-
leave no trace (take rubbish away with you)
-
be mindful of plants and animals when leaving a trail to explore
-
leave chemicals/pollutants out of waterways and the environment
-
we share the environment with other living beings to whom it is home, both plant and animal. If collecting natural materials or treasures, do so from the ground and not removed from a living plant - mindful of animals that use the material as shelter
