Day 5 - an old tree & its magical ecosystem

Join us for 12 days of immersive and exploratory inspiration for reconnecting ourselves respectfully with the natural world and each other.

Experience the calming, rejuvenating and healing power of being in the present moment surrounded by nature, mindfully aware of yourselves and the world around you, synching back with your natural rhythms, cycles and flow!

Immerse yourselves in the magical and unique ecosystems that thrive at the base of old trees, particularly amongst the winding root system. Sentient trees are just like an organism such as ourselves, sensing, communicating and cooperating with the world around them and each other. They are wonderful beings with innate adaptability and intelligence.

Take time to slow down, return to your breath, take a few deep belly breaths to bring yourself to this moment, then introduce yourself to the tree either verbally or with your touch of loving kindness - they can feel your energy and will welcome your respectful company;

Activity

-
slow down as you sit at the base of an old giant - close your eyes and listen to the world in which it has lived for so long. What can you hear?
-
with your eyes still closed, bring your awareness to the fragrances - can you smell or even taste the musky earth beneath you?
-
bring your awareness to the soundscape that his tree resides in - what can you hear? Birds, animals, insects, rustling leaves, flowing water?
-
gently place your hands on the roots of the tree - bring your awareness to how they feel against your palms. Imagine sharing energy with this tree, visualising your energy flowing through your palms and the tree's energy flowing back to you in a delightful dance of two sentient beings
-
opening your eyes - take your time to deeply explore all around the base of the tree, observing life in all of its forms without judgement - fungi, insects, flowers, decomposing leaves, other symbiotic ferns or plants sharing life with the tree. Lean into your innate and childlike senses of wonder and curiosity, find pure awe in this intricate world.

Reconnecting ourselves regularly with the natural world has profound health & wellbeing benefits for our whole body; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Respectful play

A loving reminder to enjoy our natural world with a deep sense of reverence/respect;
-
leave no trace (take rubbish away with you)
-
be mindful of plants and animals when leaving a trail to explore
-
leave chemicals/pollutants out of waterways and the environment
-
we share the environment with other living beings to whom it is home, both plant and animal. If collecting natural materials or treasures, do so from the ground and not removed from a living plant - mindful of animals that use the material as shelter
